Overview

Mercy In Action College of Midwifery is a community-based distance program. Each school year begins with a web-based orientation week wherein the degree specifics, curriculum & schedule, and general expectations are explained, along with an introduction to the assignments and our College's values. Beginning around semester three, students continue to complete their academic work through our online classroom, while beginning a clinical placement with a qualified community midwife in the location of the student’s own choosing (see the Clinical Information page and Clinical Handbook for clinical preceptor requirements, and the state by state Professional Licensing page for information on locations approved for clinical placement).

Students are placed in cohorts which they follow through graduation, participating in online discussion boards and collaborating on assignments together. Successful completion of each semester is the requirement for going on to the next semester. After graduation, alumni will receive assistance to pursue networking with local midwives or optional international placements, should they desire.
