Strategic Education toward Improving Maternal/Child Health in Low-Resource, High-Mortality Countries
LEARN TO TRAIN BIRTH WORKERS GLOBALLY IN BEST PRACTICES TO REDUCE MATERNAL AND NEWBORN MORTALITY AND MORBIDITY
The workshop worth 28 accredited CEUs is hands-on and successful completion results in your certification to teach Helping Mothers Survive Bleeding After Birth and Helping Babies Breathe courses to anyone who attends births anywhere in the world.
Entitled “Strategic Education toward Improving Maternal/Child Health in Low-Resource, High-Mortality Countries," the Diploma workshop is taught in a Train the Trainer format. You will be first a student and then practice being an instructor for the Helping Mothers and Babies Survive(HMBS) training modules. Additionally, you will learn to train birth providers on how to implement the International Childbirth Initiative (ICI) 12 Steps to Safe and Respectful MotherBaby-Family Maternity Care. The ICI provides clear steps for implementing evidence-based maternity care worldwide, acknowledging the interaction between the MotherBaby dyad, family and environment as well as their interactions with health providers and health systems. Both HMBS and ICI support the implementation of quality improvement mechanisms that can be used to monitor the process, effect and engagement in safe and respectful maternity services.
